A house with tradition
The Hotel Post is a house rich in tradition. Centrally located at the “Postplatz” it has been a very important meeting point for centuries.
Old documents tell us that our house belonged to the possession of the monastery of Stams up to the 17th century. At this time it was called “Gasthof zur Sonne”.
In 1697 Balthasar Tschott is registered as the owner and for a long time the inn was in his family’s possession.
In 1870 Carl Baldauf (the great-grandfather of the today’s owner) married Amalia Tschott and he took over the inn.
In 1822 the post office was opened in one of the rooms of the inn. Therefore it was called “Gasthof zur Post” and the inn with its post office horses became of great importance as connecting point between the Inntal valley, the Vinschgau in Italy and the Switzerland.
